Render is far too low on the canvas buddy. Really does need to be higher so the top of his head is either touching or is just below the border. I'm not really a fan of the dodging or the white brushing around him and the blending does look a little overdone.

The bg is not bad but I don't like the way you have coloured this piece. It makes it look very monotonous. The depth isn't that great either.
