Your definately improving, try not to hide textures behind colouring layers though as it doesn't look too good in your final result. Also keep you backgrounds clean and try not to overdo the render effects.
yeah tim sums it up really, try to keep your work simple and not cram it with effects. But for just over a month of doing this your doing a great job, far better than i was back then. KUTGW!
